Myrrh is a natural, aromatic, sap-like resin or “gum” that is derived from the small, thorny Commiphora myrrha tree, which is related to the Frankincense tree.

Claimed Benefits: In aromatherapy, Myrrh Essential Oil is known to offer relief for colds, congestion, coughs, bronchitis, and phlegm.
The primary active compounds in Myrrh have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and may help to soothe Eczema and itchy skin. These compounds are also under investigation for their anticancer and antibacterial benefits. Aroma can be mood enhancing.

Plant part: Gum resin from the Commiphora Myrrha tree

Origin: Somaliland

Dilute this pure essential oil with a suitable carrier oil (eg: grapeseed oil, almond oil), or even simply inhale the scent directly from the bottle. Using neat essential oils may irritate the skin so always dilute into a carrier oil or base cream before use – do not apply to skin undiluted.

Ingestion of oils: Ingestion should only ever be applied under the recommendation and/or direction of a registered, professionally qualified Therapeutic Aromatherapist or Medical Practitioner. Essential oils are powerful natural plant chemicals that could cause harm when ingested irresponsibly.
